By: P.T., PU

Yesterday morning, December 21st, 2020, police officers from the Gorišnica Police Station detected a vehicle with foreign registration numbers. The vehicle was driven across the state border from Croatia to Slovenia in the area of Zavrč. The vehicle was stopped after the illegal entry and it was established that a Renault Kangoo private automobile with Belgian licence plates was driven by a 47-year-old Belgian citizen.

He was transporting nine other foreigners, Turkish citizens, who did not have a permit to enter and reside in Slovenia. He transported the foreigners in a way that endangered their lives and health, as one of them was sitting in the front seat, six foreigners were sitting in the rear three seats, and two foreigners were in the trunk of the vehicle. Ten people were transported in the vehicle, which is intended for the transport of five people.

The police detained the driver and, when they have collected all the necessary information, they will bring him to the investigating judge of the District Court in Ptuj with a criminal complaint. The Turks are expected to be handed over to the Croatian security authorities today.
