The Social Democrats are using all possible means in their election campaign – including recruiting young people, who are offered relatively high pay for posting videos on social networks. Judging by the price list, the SD party is ready to pay 1,000 euros for ten posts on TikTok, which can certainly be a tempting offer, not only for young people. The second question, of course, is whether influencers are willing to tarnish their name and their reputation for such money – paid political announcements certainly should not be considered an honour, even if the payer is in all probability disguised. We cannot claim that the SD party is destroying its reputation by doing so, but the proud successors of the Communists have completely “different” criteria.
An unnamed agency, in cooperation with the SD party, prepared a campaign on the social network TikTok. For this purpose, they also created framework scenarios or instructions on what should be recorded – in order not to make a mistake, the recordings are of course sent for preview, as they must be approved by the agency (or the SD party). It seems that many random individuals who are involved in creating content on social networks or are a kind of influencers have also been invited to participate.
The agency has enabled several types of cooperation, namely the payment for 3 recordings, which the user publishes on his TikTok profile, is 300 euros. It is also possible for the participating user to publish ten recordings before the election, but the price for this form of participation is not clear from the message. Considering that the price of one shot is 100 euros, we could conclude that they are offering a thousand. Which is undoubtedly a tempting offer for young people to be convinced – much more than the values attributed to SD President Tanja Fajon in the message. At the same time, we must not forget that in all probability this is also a case of surreptitious advertising.
However, some young people think for themselves and are not tempted by such offers. Instagram user Lili, who designs digital content and lives in Budapest, wrote: “It does not matter which party it is. But these are not good games for me.” She also added that she considers paid cooperation and putting words in the mouth “dirty”.
Laura, also a content designer, wrote similarly on Instagram: “It is interesting how politics has moved to social networks. I see no reason why I should personally encourage others to vote. Everyone should choose the one they think will do their job best.” She added that she found the prices for the work done interesting – especially given the delicate content.
Did you see a post on TikTok with a hint of the SD party?
We came across two people with whom the recruitment of SD party was unsuccessful, and they also publicly expressed their opposition to doing so. We can only imagine how many of those who do not want to resent and prefer not to mention the offered payment for the creation of SD propaganda – and of course those who for one reason or another accepted the offered work. However, we can be sure that the recordings of the latter are not given and will not be recorded as a paid publication, much less that the payer is an SD party.
