Why are ordinary citizens punished, but Kučan is not?!?

By: T. P. (Nova24TV.si)

When readers pointed out the improper parking of former President Milan Kučan on a bicycle lane near Republic Square in Ljubljana, the police responded in an unusual manner to questions about equal enforcement against similar offenders, raising concerns about equality of all Slovenian citizens before the law.

At first, the police referred to the protection of personal data, and later stated that they had not been informed of the incident and that they had not detected any violation.

They added that any eyewitnesses should have notified the police immediately at the scene and provided as much information as possible so that officers could act effectively. They further noted that they would investigate the incident only if all conditions were met.

Such a response from the police once again raises the question of untouchables and whether the same standards apply to all citizens. If this had involved an ordinary citizen, the procedure would likely have been far more straightforward, whereas in the case of Milan Kučan it appears that institutions are once again looking for excuses not to investigate the matter.
