Vančo K. Tegov: The referendum was more than just a political question

By: G. B.

“Thank God for yesterday, for Sunday, and for the voice and will to live. It is precisely this voice, the voice of the heart and the will to live, the desire to experience, to survive, and to live life to the fullest until the end, that is not dependent on the current constellation of society or on the dry calculations of the health fund or any other treasury,” commented political scientist Vančo K. Tegov on our portal about the referendum on euthanasia.

Despite all possible and impossible, expected and unexpected manipulations, the result is for the good of all citizens, of everyone living here, he said. “Yesterday, in Slovenia, it was shown that life is so valuable and sacred that it cannot and must not be regulated by some commission, a body in assembly, or even a doctor who, relying on certain irrational and irrelevant assumptions, has strayed, wandered off, and gone far away from his mission,” commented Vančo K. Tegov.

He added that on the referendum question of dignity, human rights to life, and its inviolability, “we responded in a dignified way, that life ends when it runs its course, in the least painful way possible, with dignity, and without interference from anyone or anything.”
