The goal of the new law is to prevent political losers from occupying positions of power!

By: C.R.

The aim of the Act on Amendments to the Act on the Government of the Republic of Slovenia is clear. With the law, Golob’s coalition wants to provide ministerial positions to political losers through the back door, even though the voters showed them the door on April 24th this year.

In the elections on April 24th, 2022, the voters decided that they no longer wanted to see representatives of the Party of Alenka Bratušek and the List of Marjan Šarec in the parliament. Even the Levica party barely passed the 4% parliamentary threshold. Nevertheless, Robert Golob decided that at the expense of the taxpayers, his ministerial team will acquire an additional 3 members – precisely for those who burned out in the elections.

Party of Alenka Bratušek, led by Alenka Bratušek, received only 31,117 votes or 2.61% in the last parliamentary elections. The party only finished 9th among parties. Even Alenka Bratušek herself received a negligible number of votes. She ran in two Kranj districts. In the district of Kranj I, she received only 726 votes, or 4.97%, and in the district of Kranj II, 829, or 5.58%. Today, Alenka Bratušek is the state secretary at the Ministry of Infrastructure, and in case of the adoption of the Act on Amendments to the Act on the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, she would even become the Minister of Infrastructure on the basis of the three newly established ministries.

Marjan Šarec, president of the former party called the List of Marjan Šarec, received only 44,401 votes or 3.72% in the elections. According to the voters, he is not good enough to be a member of parliament, but according to the Prime Minister, he is good enough to be a minister in such a state-forming field such as the field of defence.

With the adoption of the Act on Amendments to the Act on the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, a new ministry would also be established for Luka Mesec. The Ministry for a Solidary Future would be established especially for him, which you can read more about here. Under the leadership of Luka Mesec, the Levica party barely made it into the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, as it received only 53,234 votes or 4.46% in the elections.

The Act on Amendments to the Act on the Government of the Republic of Slovenia therefore brings additional ministries for political losers such as Alenka Bratušek, Marjan Šarec, and Luka Mesec. Of course, the establishment of three additional ministries is not free. Additional ministries will bring new costs such as salaries for additional ministers, state secretaries, the minister’s cabinet, new jobs, new premises, etc. But there are also many tenders and new studies that the Slovenian left likes to do. If we do not stop this in a referendum, the taxpayers will end up paying for it all.
