The crocodile tears of Nataša Pirc Musar, Robert Golob, and Tanja Fajon

By: C. R.

“I strongly condemn antisemitism, religious hatred, and all forms of violence,” said President of the Republic Nataša Pirc Musar today, following Sunday’s shooting attack on Sydney’s Bondi Beach, in which at least 16 people were killed, including one of the attackers. She expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

“I was deeply saddened by the news of the mass shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, which claimed numerous innocent lives,” the president posted on the social network X.

She offered condolences to the victims’ families and expressed solidarity with Australia. “I strongly condemn antisemitism, religious hatred, and all forms of violence. Such acts have no place in our society,” she emphasised.

Before her, Prime Minister Robert Golob and Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon had condemned the attack on Sunday, in which more than 40 people were injured in addition to the 16 fatalities.

The target of the attack, which is being treated as a terrorist act, was the Jewish community. The assault took place during a celebration of the beginning of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah, attended by several thousand people at the popular beach.

Yet the response is rather hypocritical, given that the entire government, including Pirc Musar, has consistently spread Hamas’s narrative of genocide, leading many to view Jews as a genocidal nation. That very framing encouraged the bloody attack. In short: crocodile tears.
