President of the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption on Golob: We are saddened by the incitement to illegal actions and circumventing the law

By: Spletni časopis

In response to last week’s unusual speech by Prime Minister Robert Golob – when he addressed businesspeople and encouraged them to place orders outside the rules, claiming that direct contracting by the state is not subject to public procurement regulations and therefore would not raise issues with the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (CPC), and when he also offered help with joint illegal lobbying so that everyone would be part of the corruption “to do something good” – CPC President Robert Šumi responded at a press conference about the anti-corruption action plan as follows:

“What saddens us is that we are still witnessing public reactions from leading politicians in the media, such as can be seen in the recording of the Prime Minister’s conversation at last week’s event with a certain circle of businesspeople, who encourage illegal actions, call for circumventing legislation, and in doing so directly or indirectly mock the work of the Commission and the importance of preventing corruption, as well as the promotion of integrity, responsibility, and transparency.”

It seems Šumi was responding to the Prime Minister’s unusual advice and predictions, which are briefly available on X here.

You can watch the full event in the video recording; the final part of the controversial statements about illegal lobbying appears at 1:15:40, and the first part – about operating outside standard regulations – a few minutes earlier.
