At Friday’s protest of the far left, the police had to use physical force and shields, as well as tear gas, to push away the protesters. So far, the police officers have identified 33 violations of the measure that forbids the gathering at a rally, and seven violations of the measure that forbids crossing of municipal borders, which are both part of the Ordinance on the temporary partial restriction of movement of people and on the prohibition of gathering of people to prevent the spread of COVID-19, as well as 27 violations of the Protection of Public Order Act.

Those that are opposing the demolition of the former Rog factory and the eviction of its users from the building expressed their anger at an unreported protest on Friday. At 6 p.m., they gathered on Prešeren Square, and then about 500 of them walked to the Town Hall and then moved on in the direction of the Rog factory. The protesters then walked the streets of Ljubljana and stopped on Trubarjeva street. The protest ended at around 8 p.m.

The police officers were performing tasks of maintaining public order, ensuring the safety of protesters, regulating traffic and monitoring the compliance with the Ordinance on the temporary partial restriction of movement of people and on the prohibition of gathering of people to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The protesters became violent; the police had to use physical force to stop them

At around 7.30 p.m., the crowd on Trubarjeva street tried to push the police officers in the cordon, so they used physical force to push them away, with the help of shields and tear gas. No one was injured; however, one person was offered medical assistance due to the use of tear gas. One person was detained for the duration of the protest, under Article 64 of the Police Tasks and Powers Act.

In protecting the rally, the police officers identified 33 violations of the measure that forbids the gathering at a rally, and seven violations of the measure that forbids crossing of municipal borders, which are both part of the Ordinance on the temporary partial restriction of movement of people and on the prohibition of gathering of people to prevent the spread of COVID-19, as well as 27 violations of the Protection of Public Order Act.
