The Fotopub affair is gaining new traction on social media. After Aleksandar Repić, known as “Nepridiprav”, explained to his followers the role of the central figure of the scandal, Dušan Smodej, and his connection to the 8 March Institute, he has now turned his attention to Labour Minister Luka Mesec and Levica’s links to the affair.
Let us recall that when the Fotopub scandal broke, Luka Mesec strongly denied knowing Dušan Smodej. “To avoid any doubt: I have never had anything to do with Smodej. I categorically reject all insinuations about my connections with him; I never attended parties at his place, nor did I know they existed,” he said. But his statements were not particularly convincing, nor did it seem very likely that no acquaintance existed.
Why? Because during the scandal several indications, even pieces of evidence, emerged suggesting that the two did know each other. A photo surfaced allegedly showing Luka Mesec inside the notorious Fotopub premises.
There were also two videos published by the anonymous profile “Ljubljanski kulturnik”. The first video shows Luka Mesec in front of Fotopub. According to the anonymous profile, the footage was taken in May 2021, when Roman Uranjek was exhibiting at Fotopub. Uranjek is another key figure in the Fotopub affair.
The second video shows Luka Mesec heading into an apartment, supposedly for some kind of party.
And there were other clues. For example, when curator Hana Ostan Ožbolt Haas explained on social media her connections with Smodej and the reasons she cut ties with him, a mysterious comment appeared under her post from Manca G. Renko, the former partner of Minister Mesec. She simply wrote LOL. Nepridiprav commented on her remark: “Luka Mesec’s girlfriend is laughing at such a post.” In online slang, LOL means that someone is laughing out loud.
He then confronted Luka Mesec directly, after Mesec attacked him on Instagram.
“I have just noticed that even Levica has started deleting comments under their posts. What kind of democracy is this? Why do you all want to silence me so badly? I just want answers to some questions, especially about Fotopub,” he said.
And further: “What is wrong with you people? What kind of ecosystem have you created, where you all cover for each other, from the courts to the police… You are all connected, sweeping everything under the rug. You call me a murderer, a criminal, but you yourselves are predators, rapists, everything under the sun. In your circles there are people who spike women’s drinks and then rape them, and you defend and protect them? Are you normal? Is this democracy?”
Nepridiprav: “Be careful who you vote for”
As the saying goes: “When you put a clown in a palace, the clown does not become a king, the palace becomes a circus.” I think the last four years we really lived in a circus. If this circus continues for the next four years, we will be watching all sorts of clowns […] be careful who you vote for.”
After Luka Mesec censored him on his profile, Nepridiprav now announces that he will continue raising awareness about the Fotopub affair. “I do not like avoiding scandals like Fotopub,” he concluded.
