“Next year, we will approach the matter differently”

By: Moja Dolenjska

SDS president Janez Janša responded to a report stating that Ribnica mayor Samo Pogorelc is disappointed by the fact that the municipality of Ribnica did not receive a single euro from the state call for proposals for regulating Roma settlements, despite being one of the municipalities most burdened by Roma-related issues.

Janša wrote on the social network X that the government’s decision to deny the municipality funding is disgraceful. He announced that next year (likely referring to when his party takes over the government), they will approach the matter differently. “Starting point: equal standards for everyone. We do not accept a system where one set of rules applies to Slovenians or locals, and another to Roma or illegal migrants. Yet it’s always the former who foot the bill,” he wrote.
