Mojca Pašek Šetinc even angered her party colleague Urška Klakočar Zupančič with her behaviour in the parliamentary benches

Gibanje Svoboda MP Mojca Pašek Šetinc, who heads the investigative commission on the alleged illegal financing of political parties, delivered an invitation to the committee meeting to SDS MP Janez Magyar, who already received the mail this morning, as part of a procedural proposal during today’s session of the National Assembly. This earned her a reprimand.

Mojca Pašek Šetinc explained at the beginning of today’s session of the National Assembly, as part of a procedural proposal, that Magyar was invited to the hearing last week, as he is designated as a witness before the parliamentary investigative committee. Since he did not pick up the mail, even though it arrived, she invited him to the next hearing, which will be on December 9th, she explained, taking the envelope to Magyar.

At the same time, the President of the National Assembly Urška Klakočar Zupančič issued a warning to Šetinc Pašek for abusing the procedural proposal. At the same time, she scolded MP Magyar. As she said, the fact that state officials do not pick up the mail of state institutions is wasteful and shameful. To make sure that the measure was full, she added this: “As the first, we should be an example of how we behave in whatever procedures we are involved in. This is my personal opinion.” She also warned that everyone had now witnessed that Magyar had received the invitation, with which she could also deserve a reprimand for abusing parliamentary time to comment on personal opinions.

She violated the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly

Magyar explained that, as an MP, he receives a lot of mail, as well as leaflets and other things, “and maybe that mail got stockpiled somewhere”, reported STA. However, he confirmed that he had received the notice and picked up the mail this morning. “I ask that such malicious and political manipulation be excluded from the parliamentary debate,” he added. The leader of the SDS parliamentary group, Jelka Godec, also warned that Šetinc Pašek violated the rules of procedure. “Whether someone picks up the mail or not is his personal matter, and therefore in the National Assembly we will not judge by whether a state functionary picks up the mail or not,” emphasised the MP. In her opinion, Šetinc Pašek made today’s “maneuver” with the intention of publicly branding the MP who picked up the mail with the invitation to the hearing on December 9th.

The persecution of critical media went beyond all limits

Let us remind you that last week the Gibanje Svoboda MP and member of the investigative commission Lenart Žavbi revealed that they had illegally gained insight into the financial operations of the weekly Demokracija and into the personal data of subscribers. Thus, they blatantly violated the law, as no court issued a court order to obtain this type of data. Because of this, Boris Tomašič, director of Nova obzorja publishing company Ltd., which publishes the weekly Demokracija, wrote a public letter to the president, Mojca Pašek Šetinc, and announced legal procedures and a report to the Information Commissioner. Because they incriminated themselves, the chairwoman also cancelled the announced press conference.
