Majority of Covid-19 victims aged over 75

The figures released by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) show that more than 80% of people who died of coronavirus in Slovenia were older than 75 years and almost 60% were older than 85.

Although 56 persons died until Monday, the NIJZ statistics take into account only 53 deaths because the institute gets the data with a delay. All the deceased were older than 45, but the number of deaths rose with age; the number of deaths in the age group between 75 and 84 was 13 and that in the age group of over 85 reached 31. Public broadcaster Radio Slovenija meanwhile reported that as many as 75% of all the 56 victims had died in nursing homes.
