“In my book about the Slovenian UDBA and the Pliberk group, I also mention Stojan Celin, a UDBA agent from the Maribor-Slovenj Gradec region, who handled the informant Osman (Ibrahim Ljubijankić). However, he is better known for having handled the UDBA informant Marta Kos.”
This is what publicist and economist Mag. Igor Omerza, who in recent years has dedicated himself to archival research – especially the study of documents from the Yugoslav era – recently wrote on the social network X. He has uncovered several controversies from that time, among them that the former regime surveilled several Slovenian politicians (such as Dimitrij Rupel and Boris Pahor). – source
In his latest book, Mag. Omerza revealed Marta Kos, currently from the Freedom Movement party and now a European Commissioner, a member of the European Commission.
Marta Kos is listed in the database [http://Udba.net](http://Udba.net) under entry no. 452234; additional labels indicate that she was a registered source handled by an UDBA agent or a member of the State Security Service (SDV).
During Golob’s government, Marta Kos initially intended to run for President of the Republic, but she withdrew her candidacy before formally submitting it. She clashed with Robert Golob and later stated that “Freedom Movement is no longer my party.” Soon after, she changed her mind, so did Golob. He had initially planned to propose former President of the Court of Audit, Tomaž Vesel, as European Commissioner. He even brought him to the Freedom Festival, but later humiliated him and discarded him – if we use Golob’s own rhetoric. He sent a message to Brussels that Marta Kos is a highly suitable candidate.
Kos is a former secretary (now officially also former) of Forum 21, led by Milan Kučan. She was a journalist and correspondent in Germany; later, the Alenka Bratušek government appointed her ambassador to Berlin during a closed session as part of the “political quota.” Miro Cerar then sent her to Switzerland, where she allegedly mistreated colleagues and came under internal review. She resigned as ambassador, claiming she was no longer interested in politics.
She denied any cooperation with UDBA (the former State Security Service, SDV). Yet now, as a member of the European government, she is supposed to represent human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and human rights.
One of the most well-known comments on X during the appointment of Kos as European Commissioner stated: “Marta Kos lives in Switzerland, owns a company there, pays taxes in Switzerland, is married to a Swiss citizen, and vacations in Switzerland. Would it not make more sense for her to run for some political position in Switzerland? What does she even have to do with Slovenia?”
