Golob’s pre-election sweeteners have no effect on public opinion

By: Moja Dolenjska

The pre-election sweeteners that Prime Minister Robert Golob has been unveiling during recent government visits to the regions have had no impact on public opinion. According to a poll conducted by the Ninamedia agency for Dnevnik, public approval of the government has been declining for three consecutive months. Support for the Freedom Movement has also dropped.

According to the poll, 57% of respondents believe the government is performing poorly, while only 36% think it is doing well. Back in August, 41% held a positive view.

Among the parties, SDS leads with 23.1% of the vote (up from 22.6% the previous month), followed by the Freedom Movement with 15.4% support (down from 17.1%). In third place is SD with 6.6%, followed by the Democrats (5.6%), NSi (5.3%), and the Left (4.9%). All other parties have less than 1.1% support.
