For adequate answers and solutions

In December 2018, SDS Member of Parliament Eva Irgl welcomed parents of blind and partially sighted children protesting from parliament as chairwoman of the Commission on Petitions, Human Rights and Equal Opportunities.

Thereafter, she convened a session committee, where they decided that the state should immediately suspend all enforcement proceedings in the proceedings against the parents and, within four months at the latest, correct any injustice caused to the parents.

The above refers to the simultaneous exercise of the right to child care allowance and allowance for assistance and attendance, where parents of blind and partially sighted children have been deprived because of a ministry error in recent years.

Because of the misinterpretation of the legislation by the social work centres, parents had to choose between two allowances, a child care allowance and a help and care allowance, although it became clear later that they could receive both. Many parents therefore opted for lawsuits.

The Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, currently run by Ksenija Klampfer (SMC), has promised to redress wrongs and then take things quite a bit further on their own.

Parents of blind and partially sighted children were given different amounts of assistance, although it was agreed that they would receive a maximum amount of EUR 204.

Parents were also not reimbursed for all court costs. Therefore, Eva Irgl is now asking the Minister for appropriate answers and solutions.
