Some time ago YouTube channel LibertyRocks published an interesting video about connections between communism and modern terrorism.
In the video, we are told that the Soviets, and especially their secret police KGB, was involved in setting up various Islamist groups, which consequently evolved into terrorist organizations. Former Secretary of the governing Communist Party and the leader of the Soviet Union, Leonid Brezhnev once said on the party congress that the fight for “freedom” can be achieved under the flag of Islam.
In other words, the Soviets were certain that they can achieve communist revolutions with the help of Islam in the Middle East. Former leader of the KGB arm operating in Romania and Bulgaria Ion Mihail Pacepa exposed such operations by stating that he was in charge for sending thousands of agents, who were both Muslims and communists, into the Muslim countries. Their mission was to infiltrate the state positions and destabilize those societies. Pacepa also claimed that he was only one of many such higher-ups with this kind of order.
Even Ayman Al-Zawahiri who became the leader of Al-Kaida after the death of Osama bin Laden was supposedly recruited by the Soviets and was even trained in the USSR. And the main founder of the camps where terrorists trained was Jurij Andropov, Leader of the Soviet Union and Gorbachev´s mentor.
