Minister of the Interior Aleš Hojs is satisfied with the vote on the interpellation, which it successfully passed after more than 16 hours of debate.

The proposal for Hojs’s dismissal was supported by 38 deputies, against 43. For the success of the interpellation, the proponents would have to collect at least 46 votes.

In the coalition, the vote was in line with expectations, with some separate opinions or. the deputies’ votes, which were in line with their beliefs and ideology, Hojs noted in a statement to reporters after the interpellation. DeSUS deputies did not vote unanimously.

In his estimation, the discussion in some segments was markedly underestimated, in a way rude and inappropriate to this environment. Sam hopes he wasn’t insulting, and many, he said, were. “Ideological issues are no different than the debate itself may sometimes get off track. That’s normal,” he said.

The Minister estimates that he will meet with the Prime Minister Janez Janša met on Monday to discuss further co-operation or non-co-operation. According to him, the result of the parliamentary vote on his work can certainly contribute to this decision.

“The prime minister will probably tell me what the situation is with the search for a new minister, assess the chances of that happening, or give me a chance to continue working,” he said. Hoys noted. If this is the last, he will ask him to return the sealed envelope to him with his June resignation, he announced.

Namely, after the interpellation had already been filed, Hojs sent a resignation statement to Prime Minister Janša after house searches regarding the purchase of medical and protective equipment. However, Janša did not inform the National Assembly about his resignation. He later explained that he did not open the envelope with the resignation statement, as he asked Hojsa to wait with the decision to resign and reconsider until there is a new solution.

At the request of LMŠ, SD, Levice and SAB, he defended himself before the National Assembly today. The main complaint concerned the lifting of the ban on the singer’s concert Marko Perković Thompson, but the opposition added other allegations.

The interpellation of the Minister of the Interior, Aleš Hojs, was the second in the six months of the current government. He was successfully preceded by the Minister of the Economy, Zdravko Počivalšek, who was accused by opposition supporters of irregularities in the purchase of protective and other equipment to contain the new coronavirus epidemic. However, a third one is expected soon, namely the Minister of Agriculture Aleksandra Pivec. It was announced in the LMŠ, and support for the interpellation is also announced in the opposition SD, Levica and SAB.
