“They tried to roughly remove me from politics several times. They set up affairs, incite scandals against me, tackle my family and my sons. After two years of relentless (media) lynching, the Specialised State Prosecutor’s Office also found out that I was innocent in the Vinakras-Izola case”, said Aleksandra Pivec in response to the completed criminal investigation and thanked everyone who supported her in recent years. “Because of you, I insist in politics, and I will not give up, because I know that Slovenia deserves a different policy.”

Koper criminal investigators have filed a criminal complaint with the Specialised State Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Slovenia against Izola Mayor Danilo Markočič. According to unofficial information, Markočič is being sued for paying a hotel bill for the then minister, the current president of the Naša Dežela party, Aleksandra Pivec, and her sons in a hotel in Izola, wrote Primorske novice. He is suspected of “committing a criminal offense of abuse of official position or official rights, because in May 2019 and June 2020 he used his official position and crossed the boundaries of official rights,” the Koper Police Administration explained to the newspaper.

In the summer of 2020, Pivec, then president of DeSUS and Minister of Agriculture, faced public criticism for her June guest appearances and the payment of overnight stays in Kras and Izola. Recall that under severe pressure from forces from behind, she was forced to resign.

The criminal investigation therefore concluded the criminal investigation in the coastal part of the Pivec affair. Pivec is not among the defendants. The Commission for the Prevention of Corruption has also scrutinised the matter. At the time, Pivec said that the investigation by the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption had confirmed that she had paid for herself in Izola and that there had been no violations in the Vinakras case. Her statement was responded by the CPC in the past, where they said that she violated integrity as defined in point 4 of Article 4 of the Integrity and Prevention of Corruption Act (ZIntPK) and in two cases violated the first paragraph in connection with the third and the fifth paragraph of Article 30 of the ZIntPK, which defines the prohibitions and restrictions regarding the acceptance of gifts. Pivec rejects the accusations: “It is inadmissible for state institutions (CPC) to violate legal provisions and interfere with the constitutional rights of individuals by disrespecting the law and selectively disclosing their findings,” said Aleksandra Pivec.
