“During Janša’s government, we introduced local jurisdiction of the administrative unit for registering residence in order to reduce such abuses. Golob’s government has ‘wisely’ abolished this measure and even bragged about it. Thus, now one can register a residence in Ankaran at the administrative unit in Lendava.”
This is what Dr Božo Predalič, the Secretary-General during the previous government, wrote on the network X.
Today, there is a lot of outrage on social media over the news that unknown individuals are registering in some apartments without the consent and knowledge of the owners.
Dr Predalič also responded to a user on the X network, Carin, who wrote under a post on Nova24TV: “How is this possible? Is the owner’s consent not required? When our family moved to a new apartment, of which my husband is the formal owner, the UE (Administrative Unit) demanded his consent for me and the children to live at this address. We all have the same surname. Could someone at the UE be corrupt?”
We have also reported on abuses on our portal: He checked who was registered in his apartment and was shocked.
The decision that marked the end of fictitious residence registrations and, based on that, the abuse of social transfers was made by the previous government at the end of 2020 and by the National Assembly at the beginning of March 2021. We published an article: End of fictitious residence registrations and, based on that, the abuse of social transfers—social tourism.
The most notable case was that 265 foreigners were registered at Tovarniška Street 6. This was then prevented, but what is happening now still needs to be checked.
