“Run now, come on,” is heard in the recording, just before the crowd of “curfew” violators runs after the police car. The police officers allegedly returned later in a reinforced line-up, but we are still waiting for the epilogue.
Due to the declared epidemic, a temporary restriction of movement at night, between 9 pm and 6 am, came into force on Tuesday. There are a few exceptions, such as coming to or going from work and emergency situations. The measure is not well received by everyone thus protests against the “curfew” took place last night on Maribor’s Main Square. About thirty people gathered, carrying lit torches, and the police officers watched the event calmly. The media reports that verbal violence took place among the protesters themselves. According to eyewitnesses, the protesters insulted Renato Volker, whom we wrote about in the summer, when he carried the SDS flag with minor cosmetic corrections to bicycle protests. Portal Maribor24 also reported that one of the participants said: “We no longer want to throw granite cubes, but we want to achieve our goal in a peaceful manner. We will continue as long as necessary,” he said announcing a new protest tonight.
Last night was lively on the other side of Slovenia as well, more precisely in Ljubljana’s Fužine, where rapper Zlatan Čordić (Zlatko) once lived. A group of badly brought up provocateurs lit a “campfire” and defied nighttime restrictions on socializing.
Were inhabitans of Fužine organized by Zlatko?
In the recording, which you can see below, it is possible to hear a voice saying to its colleagues, in the Southern language, “Run now, come on!” His colleagues obeyed him and ran after the police car that was passing by. The officers probably wanted to warn the gang, but they sensed that the Fužine gang outnumbers them, so they drove on as a precaution. It is interesting that the voice of the provocateur is very similar to Zlatko’s. It is also known, Zlatko came into conflict with the police at the last protest when he stole a camera from a Nova24TV cameraman.
They threw objects at a police vehicle and then fled
The Ljubljana Police Administration informed us that yesterday, around 9.30 pm, a police officer from the Ljubljana Moste Police Station, while inspecting the Fužine area, noticed that a larger group of people was gathering on Preglov trg. To ensure safety during the police procedure, the operational communication center requested an assistance of additional patrols. During this time, several individuals began throwing objects at the police vehicle, causing the officer to leave for safety reasons. The persons had already fled before the arrival of other police patrols, hence their identities were not established on the spot. Police officers are collecting information about the incident and if more becomes known about the attack, they will inform the competent district state prosecutor’s office about all findings or carry out appropriate misdemeanor proceedings, the Police Administration informed us.
