American television presenter Ellen DeGeneres has had an old tweet go viral after it refer to making her employees cry as the current scandal about her show rumbles on

An unearthed tweet from Ellen DeGeneres from 2009 has gone viral as it refers to her making ’employees cry’.

The attention the tweet has gotten comes as The Ellen DeGeneres Show has been at the centre of a scandal surrounding workplace ‘toxicity’.

Three of the show’s producers have been fired, with executive producers Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman all being given the boot from the daytime talk show.

In light of the accusations against the conduct of producers behind the scenes, it means one tweet taken out of context has not aged well, prompting its renewed attention on social media.
