On Saturday, European leaders continued with the European Union–African Union Summit, attended by Prime Minister Janez Janša.

The Prime Minister has attended several bilateral meetings in the margins of the Summit. Yesterday, he met with the Prime Minister of Cape Verde, Ulisses Correia e Silva. In their talks, the two heads of state spoke mainly about bilateral relations between the two countries and the EU–AU Summit. Mr Janša also met with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed Ali. The talks with the Ethiopian PM focused mainly on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and on their economic cooperation and the topics discussed at the EU–AU Summit.

Today, Prime Minister Janša met with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. He also met with AUC Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat. The two shared a favourable view of the EU–AU Summit, which provides many opportunities for development, both between the African Union and the EU and in bilateral relations. Janša and Mahamat expressed a strong interest in fostering bilateral relations between Slovenia and the African Union and African countries.

Mr Mahamat was very appreciative of the fact that Slovenia organises Africa Day each year.
