What kind of world will we leave behind?

I often wonder where we are headed. What will we leave behind? What kind of Slovenia will we pass on to our children? The world around us is becoming increasingly unpredictable. Values that were once considered fundamental, truthfulness, honesty, responsibility, and respect, are too often dismissed today as outdated, as something to be replaced by modern relativism, where there are no longer any real answers, no truth, where everything is merely a matter of feeling and momentary mood.

And it is in times like these that the most important thing is to remain faithful. To ourselves. To our homeland. To our conscience.

Slovenia is not perfect, but it is ours. And even though today we face many uncertainties, from economic upheavals to cultural decay, from global confusion to local apathy, I believe the future can still be bright. Not because it is guaranteed. But because I believe in people. In those who work quietly and honestly. In those who still pray with their children at night. In those who do not look for excuses, but for solutions. In those who genuinely believe in a just and fair future.

In the end, as a society and as a nation, we will stand or fall based on one thing alone: Whether we are able to preserve what has preserved us. Our values. Our roots. Our pride. Our culture. And our love for our homeland.

So let us not bend to every modern wind that blows from who knows where and carries no scent of reason. Let us not experiment with ideas that have already proven to destroy civilisations. Let us look forward with clarity, with the awareness that the future is not something that simply happens. The future is something we build.

And if we build it on the right foundation, then the question will not be what kind of country our children will live in – but rather, the answer will be clear: They will live in a country we passed down to them, proud, upright, and worthy of their love.
