Slovenia woke up to a new day on April 25th. People have chosen a man with sweet promises and no experience in politics as the most competent leader during the coming crises. For a man who has never given anything to anyone and is now supposed to give people freedom. And we have no doubt he will provide it. To my own, I say, faithful. Because that is how the freedom of the ideological left works. Freedom to ours, and for all others, complete submission, revenge, destruction, discredit, and in the worst case, death.
Already seen in the past, when some had freedom, even from law enforcement, while their opponents were abused to deal with the undesirable in politics by the judiciary and law enforcement bodies. We also saw freelancers freely stealing state finances, taking 400 million euros a year from the health fund. And others who received 3 years in prison for technical bribes for 200 euros in technical inspections. We had those who sexually exploited pharmacists, but nothing happened to them, and those who allegedly had a picture of a topless teenager on a computer and lost 10 years of their lives. We had free media, whose task was to slander the SDS party and Janez Janša, and we had those unwanted, professional journalists who were brought to a premature grave through harassment and mobbing.
We know such freedom in Slovenia after independence. Because we did not have lustration. Because we did not erase the previous system in our heads or in the state subsystems. Thus, former members of the VOS, SDV, and other secret repressive organisations landed in the police, the prosecutor’s office, and the judiciary of the new democratic state. Those who maintained a one-party system through terror oversaw the rule of law in a democracy. Are we amazed that some are free, and others are imprisoned for nothing? Are we surprised that they write off millions of debts to someone and demolish a house for another for a penny or evict a family? Are we really surprised that someone is imprisoned on the grounds that he has supposedly done something at an unknown time, place, and manner, and for some we have all the evidence, but they are free?
The system survived. It has survived in the minds of many who still follow stupid socialist slogans that mean nothing. One such is freedom. Freedom consists of economic freedom, freedom of religion, expression, thought and the right to life. An individual can live his freedom to the fullest if he has a livelihood, if he can think and say what he wants, and if his life is protected. Freedom is not about someone saying there is no freedom, and people believe that. Has someone wondered what kind of freedom Golob will bring?
Before him, we had record economic growth, highest employment, 150 million more taxes and contributions collected per month. We had tourist vouchers, pension adjustments, allowances for the most vulnerable, digital vouchers, lower electricity bills, lower petrol prices. We had a lively construction market and a lot of demand for investments in Slovenia. We could say what we wanted, even threaten to kill the highest representative of the country. The media were free to attack the government, even exploiting death and suffering during the epidemic for the political profit of their godparents. Apart from measures to combat the virus, we have had the most freedom since the creation of our country in the last two years.
And now comes freedom. Such as the little dictators predict. Golob, Klakočar Zupančič, Stojmenova Duh, Sukič. People who think so well of themselves that they are willing to literally crush all others to dust and ashes. People who know that without a deep state they would never be even close to power because they have their own masters, they project frustrations of their own lack of freedom to others, most often to political opponents. Do you not believe? Klakočar violated the rules of procedure of the National Assembly because she could. Fajon predicts a fight for gender equality because she can! Švarc Pipan and Stojmenova Duh will persecute free speech because they can! Golob will shut down Nova24TV because he can! They can do that, until they do something that would anger their masters. They have the freedom to do what they want as long as things in the background work as they have so far. That nothing changes. That is why they are angry, that is why they have to project their frustrations on someone else.
But these are, as the title says, just wet dreams of little dictators. Those who have to bully someone to make them feel freer than they really are. No one will abolish democracy in Slovenia, even if he sells freedom. No one will abolish alternative media because we are firm, committed to the truth. No one is going to tell our kids what gender they should be. And no one is going to tax us and take away the property that generations before us have been saving. These are just the dreams of little dictators. And when people will happen to the “people” and “freedom” when we have enough historical distance from communism, the little dictators will not end up well.
