The sincerity of convening the Commission of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia for the Supervision of Public Finance will be demonstrated in the autumn

By: Dr. Štefan Šumah

On Friday, the Commission of the National Assembly for the Supervision of Public Finance was convened by the parliamentary group NSi due to suspicion of payment of the monetary part of the Prešeren Award to Svetlana Makarovič without legal basis. Setting aside the fact that this commission should actually be chaired by someone from the largest opposition party and that NSi, together with the coalition parties, has essentially circumvented this, it gives the commission a slight sense of illegitimacy or covert collaboration between the ruling parties and NSi. Everything has its price, after all.

In short, the parliamentary group NSi called for the commission based on information that leaked to the public. However, how, when, and why this information leaked is probably a separate story. Because if an event is not talked about, it is as if it did not happen, and if someone, probably from the Ministry of Finance (I highly doubt it was someone from the Ministry of Culture), which is responsible for the payment, did not disclose it to the public, it would remain unknown. And who manages that ministry? Svoboda party. Therefore, one can reasonably assume that the information was intentionally leaked. The fact that all the strings behind Svoboda’s actions are pulled by Vukovič, and that she is known for uncompromisingly tarnishing even those she was friendly with yesterday, only supports this assumption.

If we speculate a bit, Golob miscalculated in implementing the left-wing programme, and things have gotten out of hand. Everyone is turning against the current government, employers, employees, unions, retirees… healthcare is sinking, the economy is struggling to survive, each new proposed law is more disastrous than the previous one… and support for the government is constantly declining. Now he wants to salvage whatever he can. Nova Slovenija (NSi) does have, let’s be honest, a solid economic programme and some capable individuals who would be desperately needed in the current situation.

And what could be easier than attacking the Levica party from behind, knowing that they will not give up Asta. Especially now when an anarchistic current has prevailed within the left-wing. This would be the easiest way to force them to withdraw from the government themselves, and in the end, wash their hands off without being blamed. And then, instead of the Levica, NSi could enter the government, which, let’s be honest, already occasionally flirts with the government like an awkward and shy candidate waiting for a serious suitor.

Yes, I agree with most analysts who predict a heated political autumn, and I also consider the possibility of a major change, not a change orchestrated by globalist elites, but a change orchestrated by Vukovič, Muki, and Pogorevec.

The sincerity of the call for the commission for the oversight of public finances by NSi will be revealed in the autumn. Did they mean it seriously (justifiably), or is it all just a show for the public in agreement with Vukovič, with the aim of pushing Levica out of the government and installing themselves in the government?
