In the ranks of the “progressive forces”, great dissatisfaction was expectedly widespread after Donald Trump’s renewed victory in the U.S. presidential elections. However, panic also set in. Even before the official inauguration, it became clear that this new term would be significantly different. This time, Trump entered office far better prepared than the first time. Back then, he lacked a clear and coherent political agenda, having only a collection of ideas and notions that were sometimes inconsistent. He also did not have a cohesive team of collaborators, instead “borrowing” personnel for key administrative positions from various backgrounds. As a result, his administration operated rather chaotically.
Now, however, he has all of that. He has a group of loyal collaborators by his side and enjoys the support of some of the more influential leaders of the American economy, led by Elon Musk. And he has a clear political vision. At its core is a confrontation with the ideological conglomerate of neo-leftism or “wokeism”, whose proponents – whose ideas range from unrealistic to outright insane – make life harder for people by imposing constant new burdens and restrictions while endlessly brainwashing them about how they must think, what they are allowed to say, and whom they must not offend.
Thus, on the very first day of his new term, Trump signed over a hundred executive orders, with even more following in the subsequent days. The majority of these are aimed at dismantling the legacy of the previous Democratic administration, during which woke ideology infiltrated nearly every aspect of American society – and firmly took root in (Western) Europe as well. These actions include reestablishing control over the southern border and the mass deportation of illegal migrants, abolishing the so-called Green New Deal, eliminating so-called diversity, equity, and inclusion programmes, and similar initiatives. From now on, at the federal policy level, only two genders – male and female – will be officially recognised. Additionally, the administration has pledged to eliminate all forms of media censorship in the name of combating misinformation and hate speech. We can see that all aspects of the woke agenda – green transition policies, multiculturalism, gender theory, and LGBTQ ideology – that reject Western culture and undermine the stability of Western societies are now in the crosshairs.
This political direction of the new U.S. administration has been met with frustration – if not outright resistance – among European political decision-makers and opinion leaders. This is especially true for those circles that play a key role in generating woke absurdities, which wield the greatest power and influence precisely in the core member states of the European Union. The leading representatives of some of these nations are now warning that the United States, under its new president, poses a threat to Europe. French Prime Minister François Bayrou, for example, lamented that with America’s new “domineering” policies, Europe – and with it, France – will be “overpowered and pushed to the sidelines”.
But Europe’s weakness lies within itself. Or to be more precise, in its leaders – many of whom do not even deserve that title. These are people like Bayrou, who has been lingering in various political seats for decades without any notable achievements. Governments, ministries, and parliaments across Europe are filled with such mediocrities – or even worse ones – not to mention the European institutions, which largely serve as dumping grounds for washed-up political figures.
From such people, we constantly hear “wise” proclamations about how Europe must “stand on its own feet” in defence matters and free itself from dependence on the Americans. But why do they not take any action in this direction? Why do they not ramp up their arms industries and establish effective military formations? They have more than enough resources for it. Yet instead, they squander money on green absurdities and generously fund an army of woke NGOs. Because of them, Europe is becoming increasingly irrelevant as a global player.
