The police arrest of an elderly protester in Celje has caused quite a stir in the public. A car belonging to the RTV pushed its way through a crowd of protesters, genuinely endangering the safety of the protest participants. Some protesters, horror of horrors, tapped on the car, and the aforementioned protester even went so far as to spit. How terrible! From within the crowd, where they had been cunningly hiding, three plainclothes police officers rushed out and promptly arrested the man.

The most zealous in the action was a shaven-headed sheriff, seemingly the leader of the trio. This individual, seen in another video, shoved an elderly woman, yelled at her, then stood in front of her menacingly clenching his fists while a gun hung from his belt. The bald-headed man, reportedly the deputy chief of the Celje police station, was staunchly defended by his superiors, claiming he acted according to regulations. Um, no, he did not. In the footage where he shoves the elderly woman, he neither identified himself as a police officer nor displayed a badge to prove he was an authorised official. And even if he had shown his badge, there is no justification for shoving elderly women and yelling at them. However, since the individual is evidently a big admirer of Tito and Yugoslavia, as seen from posts on his social media, nothing will happen to him, of course. Just as nothing happened to his colleague, who, in celebration of the feathered electrogenius’s election victory, fired two magazines into the air. That was a criminal act, but since this colleague is also a Tito enthusiast, he can obviously break the law with impunity. On the other hand, this is understandable, as they have a shining example at the very top of the organisation. The Minister of the Interior unlawfully appointed the director of the entire police force, which was confirmed by a court ruling, yet neither the minister nor the director seems to find this problematic. Nor does the Prime Minister, who, in a normal country, would have dismissed both the police director and the minister. When the head is rotten, it is no surprise that the limbs are too. And this is why shaven-headed sheriffs can take out their aggression on elderly citizens without consequences…
