Media attack on the government with the help of public RTVS

The government, led by Janez Janša, has been in power for just over two months and we have been witnessing a literal media attack on it for a month now. Despite its incredibly successful response to the epidemic and the enormous efforts, it has made to draft the first, second and now third anti-corona laws, to help all sections of society and various sectors of the economy, this government is still under constant attack.

It is interesting, that RTV Slovenia is in the lead with its unprofessional outbursts, which should be an example for professional and objective journalism. If in the past her top show “Tarča” was considered as an example of good journalism, with the latest shows she has exceeded the limits of every good taste.

In disclosing alleged irregularities, in the purchase of protective medical equipment, some essential information was withheld; for example, the fact that Ivan Gale is more of a “repentant” than a “whistle-blower”, as he was signing contracts at the Commodity Reserves Institute of the Republic of Slovenia; that, for example, a doctor who was presented as a great respiratory expert, helped write the LMŠ pre-election program (he was even in the running for their health minister), or that, the supposedly independent health care expert, was in fact Tosama’s director, director of a company that did not get a job from the state in purchasing protective masks and even expected the government to give it money for a machine, that is supposed to start making these protective masks only in August this year; and that in Tarča they lie, that the Ministry of Defence did not answer their journalistic questions, even though the truth is different.I have to admit, that I am surprised, that the Tarča team decided for such biased, unprofessional and activist journalism and that the management of the public RTV Slovenia allows this. Apparently, according to them, all means are allowed to settle accounts with the Janša’s government, including the promotion of anti-government protests through biased, manipulative and false reporting.
