The events unfolding, which we would not expect even in our worst nightmares, are accompanied by lice, bedbugs, and scabies. Is this the independent Slovenia – the future Switzerland? The sooner we come to terms with the truth, the sooner things will change and improve. If we also take into account the tragic situation of half the retirees and a large portion of the workers, the “teary valley” is a true paradise in comparison to the Slovenian dreams.
The comparison of social conditions in former communist countries proves that oligarchy, the rule of the wealthiest, is the highest form of communism. The socialist revolution, as a power grab by social cheaters, theft, called nationalisation, turns into privatisation of the stolen goods as a systemic kleptocracy (a government of thieves). With the help of tycoons, this establishes a government led by the worst and least capable – kleptocrats. It is not true that there is a struggle between the capitalist class and the workers; the struggle exists between the tycoons, the oligarchs, who create a kakistocratic government. The prime example is the relationship between the President of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc-Musar, and the Prime Minister, Robert Golob. “Divide and rule,” “divide et impera,” so that everything will not be done the Greek way, was clearly planned by Kučan, who set up an impossible dual government. Adding Kučan’s Janković to the mix, we have a kakistocracy raised to the nth power. To solve the problem between the President of the country and the Prime Minister, “the blue one from Murgle” might be trying to help his friend Vučić and Dodik, his “gelibter,” who is aiding the new war in Bosnia – this is possible and likely.
The accusations against the President, that she cannot perform her duties, that she is irresponsible and unstatebuilding, especially at a time when, due to changing security conditions, the entire Europe is rushing to increase defence spending, while Slovenia has no representative at the European Central Bank, where this should be decided, are fabrications, much worse than Trump’s humiliation of Zelensky. He emerged as an international hero from it, while Pirc-Musar, whom they accuse of incapacity, is seen as a nullity. In a normal country, such outbursts would lead to the automatic dismissal of the Prime Minister. The secret disappearance, not from public life. Here, they are already defending him because their political and moral disintegration of the country is their fundamental aim and goal, the necessity of kakistocracy.
For every quarrel, two are needed. The President shot herself in the foot with the appointment of Golob’s interior minister, Bobnar, a leading fighter against Janšism. Golob also wanted this primacy, of course, with verbal outbursts in Trieste, in Carinthia, and elsewhere, as she cannot fulfil her international public promise regarding the burial of the unfortunate ones who “rest” in crates in Kočevje. This is the height of socialist humanism from Milan Kučan, the main culprit, by the way, also the political godfather of Pirc-Musar. The consequences, of course, are tragic. Undeniable kakistocracy! But still, our President – the tragedy of the greatest achievement of the Slovenes in history. Despite this, only children or the mentally immature could shout that the empress is naked. If, after Golob’s insults, she acts according to his wishes, or rather commands, she lacks dignity. Even if she wants to, she cannot concede. She cannot because she is the President of the country!
“What will happen? What will happen if Brdavs is not subdued?” Brdavs, after the war for Slovenia, is now at peace. Only his are left, those for whom an independent Slovenia was never an intimate option! But Martin Krpan still exists! The Slovenian people are shaking off the fear of taking responsibility for their future. Slovenian politics must find the answer to the question of why it was so massively supported in 1991. Because it was about Slovenia’s future, not the tragedy of the past, the interwar and postwar killings, which they still use to scare and do not hide the possibility of repeating them.
This year we are commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The resistance against the occupiers has been completely overshadowed by the mass slaughter of Slovenes. They are afraid of this. But thanks to translations of Jančar’s literary works, Slovenia is becoming internationally known only for the mass postwar murders!
