If about two and a half years ago we heard about how “the government is falling”, but in the end it neither fell nor “threw in the towel”, the current government is rapidly collapsing despite its historic electoral success.
Judging by the events we have witnessed in the past 23 months; it is becoming increasingly clear that the hopes of Slovenian voters that a top-notch manager would redeem us were more than misguided. His top-notch management, considering the breakdown of public healthcare, protests from the public sector and retirees, complete stagnation in terms of reforms, and economic decay, is anything but top-notch or professional. The wrinkles on these gigantic shoes, much like on his concerned face, are getting bigger, just like on the grey and tired faces of the rest of the “winning” team. That part of the team that, of course, has not fled yet.
POLITICS CANNOT BE ADOPTED AS A PROFESSION OVERNIGHT, BUT A MISSION, IF WE DO NOT WANT TO BE SURPRISED BY POLITICAL HOOLIGANISM AGAIN.
This, of course, in itself calls into question the myth that crowned our “sun king”. Which “top-notch manager” dismisses and publicly slanders an employee who, due to moral reservations, refuses to do his dirty work (if nothing else, you do not want it to be known that you are carrying out political purges in the police), or entrusts an employee with the execution of his flagship story without the appropriate tools for its realisation, and on top of that publicly humiliates him by ordering him to kneel before Ljubljana’s Prigožin. So, let’s not be surprised that filling empty ministerial seats from the Gibanje Svoboda party’s quota was so lengthy and painful, with the gaps filled with faceless individuals. Honestly, who would even respond to the call of someone who does not fulfil promises and humiliates subordinates? Taking into account a series of unenforceable or unconstitutional, if not downright crazy laws, and a bunch of scandals and corruptive suspicions, it is clear that the Slovenian electorate has been duped once again.
But let’s hope that the body itself is aware of this, so that the next story of an instant redemption party with King Matjaž at the helm does not turn into Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves again. Because politics cannot be adopted as a profession overnight, but a mission, if we do not want to be surprised by political hooliganism again.
