From today, the introduced control of the internal EU border with Croatia and Hungary is in effect. They say it is proceeding without any particular issues, according to the minister’s opinion. Allegedly, it is running smoothly.
The official page states that both Slovenian citizens and foreigners entering the country will understand that this is a temporary and proportionate measure established due to a potential terrorist threat, as has been done by almost all of Europe. Especially for those within the Schengen area, where they are accustomed to such procedures running smoothly.
According to the police, for now, they do not record any specific discoveries in terms of security threats, only occasional illegal border crossings, which are actually quite common.
This is the official information for the public. How it is in reality?
On Thursday, Slovenia decided to introduce border controls with Croatia and Hungary because Croatia poorly guards the external Schengen border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is not far from the truth. However, this is just a patch on completely misguided migration management. It is all too late. The country has full and overcrowded facilities intended for temporary detention until a certain status is resolved. Then we see that some of them, at the first protest against Europe and Slovenia, scream that they want Palestine from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. My dear, individuals like these should be detained and prosecuted, rather than being supported by non-governmental organisations that waste taxpayers’ money on their shouting and jeopardise the peace and decent way of life we want to have in our land.
Peace and a reduction in illegal crossings across the green border and through toppled panel fences will not be possible. An even greater folly, for which they accuse Croatia, saying it does not want to accept additional deployment of Frontex forces, as if it does not want to appear incapable on its own. Slovenia, “does not want”, although facing the real threat that Italy will introduce it at our border, rushed to say it will be necessary at the eastern borders. I wonder if this will be the topic of discussion at today’s “secret” meeting of Svoboda party and its “first” echelon of decision-makers at a “secret” location in Styria, or if they will continue to praise their own delusions with the “successes” they achieve, especially in the field of border security and migration management. It is even more important to closely monitor those migrants who are already “managed” within the country.
Anything else, if there are no immediate visible results, is just creating confusion and even greater and more severe endangerment of the security of our own citizens.
