Between collapse and hope: time for a serious alternative

In the past three years, Slovenians have witnessed a disintegration of the state beyond even the bleakest of scenarios. The coalition of the Freedom Movement, SD, and the Left, led by Robert Golob, has pushed Slovenia into a spiral of political, economic, and social decline.

Instead of the promised prosperity, we have received stagnation, institutional subjugation, leftist activism, ego-driven politics, and growing uncertainty. Citizens feel the consequences at every turn – from a healthcare system facing an ever-worsening staffing crisis, to an economy losing momentum, and a judiciary held hostage by negative personnel selection. The latest example is the appointment of two new Constitutional Court judges (Nina Betetto and Primož Gorkič), whose main “qualification” appears to be ideological conformity. Thanks to the activist President of the Republic, Nataša Pirc Musar, the Constitutional Court is becoming even more uniformly leftist, purged of the ideological diversity essential to such an institution.

Returning to Golob’s government: it has demonstrated a lack of understanding of even the basics of governance, let alone strategic leadership. Instead of tackling key challenges, it began by dismantling the foundations of Slovenia’s independence, targeting personnel from the previous Janša administration, announcing sweeping reforms, delivering far less, and launching hollow PR campaigns. The result? Widespread regression and stagnation. Not to mention the shameful fraternisation with regimes and structures intent on destroying Western civilisation, built on the achievements of classical culture and Judeo-Christian roots.

On the other side, the main opposition party, the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS), led by Janez Janša, is seen by a significant portion of the electorate as the only serious and trustworthy alternative to the current predatory and harmful government. SDS offers not just criticism but concrete solutions: tax relief, digital transformation of public administration, housing policy for young people, strengthening national security, and restoring the rule of law. Janša has already proven his ability to lead in times of crisis, to unify, and to prioritise the interests of the Slovenian people.

At a time when Slovenia needs a clear head, experience, and vision, SDS is the only political force capable of returning the country to a path of development, stability, and prosperity. But as SDS leaders say, this will require a coalition with voters – with all those who care. In the upcoming elections, the choice will be clear: either the continued decay under a neo-socialist government, or the triumph of common sense, experience, and patriotism under SDS leadership. Slovenia deserves better. It deserves a centre-right government that knows how to lead, wants to lead, and is capable of doing so, a government that will heal our country from the madness we have been witnessing.
