Poland’s electoral commission reveals that the ruling populist party, Law and Justice, have won 254 seats in regional councils in local elections last Sunday and are now the largest party in Poland. The opposition coalition won 194 seats.
According to Radio Poland, “other parties trailed far behind, with voter turnout at 54.96 percent, the commission reported. Poles on Sunday headed to the ballot box to elect nearly 47,000 aldermen and 2,500 mayors and other officials as local government elections were held across the country”.
