It appears we are heading into an unstable period. If the current balance of power holds, Svoboda will receive a new mandate to form the government, but on the other hand, new early elections are also possible.
The current coalition will now have around 40 parliamentary seats in the National Assembly. That is how many seats Svoboda alone had four years ago. More precisely, it had 41, although some MPs later left, or were expelled.
This means that the current coalition parties would need support from at least one additional party. Perhaps Logar’s Democrats. With them, they might just scrape together a parliamentary majority. And if Resnica were to join the coalition as well, the majority would be more solid, though it would resemble the similarly unstable coalition under Marjan Šarec.
In the end, however, Zoran Stevanović is said to be setting rather high conditions for entering the coalition.
In any case, it is clear that the current government will not be able to continue the radical policies we have been accustomed to so far.
