By: M. Bo.

The latest public opinion poll by the Parsifal Institute shows that the Slovenian Democratic Party would receive by far the most support in a parliamentary election. The current government is supported by only 28.7% of respondents, while a large majority, 64.3%, do not support it.

The latest public opinion poll by the Parsifal Institute shows that 57.6% of respondents would participate in the next parliamentary elections, an increase from June’s survey (54.2%). By far, the most support would go to the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS). If elections were held this Sunday, 22.4% of respondents would vote for SDS. In second place is the Freedom Movement (Gibanje Svoboda) with 12.4%, followed by the Social Democrats (SD) with 6.5%, the Democrats with 5.7%, the Rebirth party (Prerod) with 5.2%, and the joint Levica and Vesna list with 5.1%.

Among the undecided, the largest group (17%) still does not know whom they would vote for. Additionally, 6.4% said they would not participate in the elections, 4.7% would not vote for any of the listed parties, and 1.4% would vote for another party.

Among decided voters, SDS support even higher

Among those who have made up their minds, SDS leads with 31.8%, followed by Freedom Movement (17.6%), SD (9.2%), Democrats (8.1%), Prerod (7.3%), Levica and Vesna (7.2%), NSi (5.1%), and the Voice of Slovenian Pensioners (4%). Among those certain to vote, SDS again leads with 30.9%, followed by Freedom Movement (15.8%), Democrats (6.5%), SD (6.1%), Levica and Vesna (5.8%), NSi (4.9%), and Prerod (4.4%). When considering only those who are both certain to vote and have already decided, the picture is similar: SDS leads with 36.7%, followed by Freedom Movement (18.7%), Democrats (7.8%), and SD (7.3%).

Growing dissatisfaction with the government

Only 28.7% of respondents support the current government, while a large majority, 64.3%, do not. Dissatisfaction with the government’s performance is rising: in April, 58.7% were dissatisfied, and by October, that number had grown to 60.8%.

Among those who support the government, the majority are men aged 55 and older with primary or lower education. Among those who do not support the government, most are men aged 18 to 34 with vocational education.
