“The time of this government is a time of lost opportunities.” This is what Jure Knez, co-founder and owner of Dewesoft and founder of the entrepreneurial accelerator Katapult from Trbovlje, recently told Bloomberg Adria.
Knez spoke about innovation and the environment supporting it, highlighting perceived shortcomings in creating a favourable climate for innovation and economic development in Slovenia.
He also pointed to slow progress in reducing bureaucracy, tax reform, and support for innovation. Knez’s statement aligns with broader criticisms of Robert Golob’s government expressed in other sources. For example, an article on PortalPlus describes the government’s performance as lacking in reform implementation, with the word “timeline” being used as a substitute for substance.
Knez is active in the Slovenian Business Club (SBC) and an advocate for a supportive business environment. He focuses on long-term projects aimed at ensuring the competitiveness of Slovenian industry. His views are based on many years of experience in entrepreneurship and advocacy for a more competitive business environment. It cannot be said that Jure Knez is politically aligned.
But let us add this: do you remember how, before the 2022 elections, Robert Golob was “sold” to us as a “top-notch manager,” as emphasised by his then right-hand woman, Urška Klakočar Zupančič, who was later cast aside? As a new face, he was then pulled out of the public eye during the final week before the elections, under the pretext that he was supposedly ill with COVID-19. He appeared in various media debates from “some garage in Solkan near Nova Gorica.”
And where are we now, almost four years after the elections, when more than 400,000 voters fell for him? The facts are plain to see every day. Slovenia is sinking all around! Instead of development, we are witnessing nearly daily new taxes!
