In New York, he gives lectures about water, but back home, his patron Janković is poisoning it

By: Nova24tv.si

At a United Nations session, Robert Golob stated that “water is the most precious resource for a sustainable future”. His international colleagues are probably unaware that, together with his “superior” Janković, he aims to poison the water of Ljubljana’s residents.

During his visit to New York, Prime Minister Golob, while at the UN headquarters, emphasised the importance of “water diplomacy” during his speech at the UN General Assembly. This concept seems to be another invention of Slovenian red academic influencers, who write empty slogans for the puppet figures in power (like the Coalition of the Constitutional Arch, feminist politics, gassing the public … and now water diplomacy).

Abroad, he speaks of water as a key resource, while at home, he helps poison it

While reading a hollow, contentless speech that was written for him, Golob described water as “the most valuable natural resource for our shared future, peace, and stability for all nations, both those facing water shortages and those with abundant supplies – like Slovenia”. This might sound appealing, if not for the fact that Slovenians are well aware that in Slovenia, his party’s city branch is allowing Ljubljana’s mayor to do whatever he pleases. This includes constructing the C0 sewage canal – colloquially called the “faecal pipeline” – over a clean water reservoir. Experts believe this will undoubtedly lead to an environmental disaster and permanently poison the water, as it is only a matter of time before the pipes fail.

Experts agree the “faecal pipeline” is dangerous

Let’s recall: Environmentalist Tomaž Ogrin from the Alpe Adria Green agency and representative of the Civil Initiative for Ljubljana’s Drinking Water testified before a parliamentary committee. He stated that leakage from the sewage system is allowed according to standards and presented photographic evidence showing that the canal is already leaking. Despite this, he added, the responsible parties refuse to comment on the matter.

The head of the Clinical Institute of Occupational, Traffic, and Sports Medicine at the University Medical Centre (UKC) Ljubljana, Metoda Dodič Fikfak, a professional epidemiologist, was one of the signatories of a letter supported by the UKC Ljubljana’s expert council. This letter, addressed to various institutions – including the government, relevant ministries, the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ), and other expert bodies – warned about the consequences of the C0 canal. Fikfak claims that we are no longer talking about risks but that it is now only a matter of time before the environmental disaster related to the C0 canal occurs, or how long the biological filter can withstand the strain. According to her, the doctors do not wish to frighten people, “but when something is so predictable, you can no longer turn a blind eye”.

In the past, numerous experts have testified before the investigative commission examining the C0 canal project, unanimously stating that the canal is dangerous to drinking water. It also seems that this project – one of the few – has united both right and left-wing Slovenia against the alliance of Janković’s city municipality and Golob’s ministerial institutions, which continue to allow construction and quietly delay procedures until the project is completed. This is how much “water” matters to our prime minister.

Strong reactions

Golob’s speech at the UN drew sharp reactions from the opposition and representatives of civil associations.

SDS MP Andrej Kosi commented on the social network X, in response to the headline where Golob boasts that water is the greatest resource: “Meanwhile, Janković is being allowed to build a faecal pipeline over the drinking water aquifer.”

Aleš Primc from the organisation “Voice for Children” wrote: “Golob at the UN: ‘Water is the most precious resource for a sustainable future.’ In Slovenia, he and Janković want to poison the water that 400,000 people drink daily! Criminal! Let’s stop Janković and Golob! Protest on September 30th at 14:30 in front of City Hall. Come!”
