Minister of Health Valentina Prevolnik Rupel finally appeared in front of the cameras yesterday, but only for just over three minutes. After a brief statement to the press, she left the room without answering numerous unanswered questions from journalists, reported the N1 portal.
The strike by doctors and dentists has been ongoing for seven weeks, and the minister is avoiding the healthcare professionals. It has been reported that she might even be on vacation this week.
One of the state secretaries confirmed that doctors and dentists are on strike because the government is not implementing what they agreed upon and signed.
Public criticism of Prevolnik Rupel is extensive, and she was apparently compelled to face the journalists yesterday. However, it was only for a brief moment. Later, she seemingly rushed off to a night skiing session. There are reports that she might be skiing.
One follower on the X network commented, “This is shameful behaviour. Irresponsible. If she is not up to the task, she should resign. She should have done so a long time ago.”
Perhaps the minister’s resignation is imminent, especially considering that her husband, Tadej Rupel, recently obtained the position of ambassador to Madrid.
