When Luka Mesec meets karma during the Smodej affair: he accused and incited without evidence, then defended himself that he gave a “political assessment”, and now he cries that he is being linked to the affair, even though, as he claims, he only walked the steps of the Fotopub once

The coordinator of the Levica party, Luka Mesec, also the Minister of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities in the government of Robert Golob, complained on the social network Twitter that some media (mainly those of the opposite worldview) unfairly associate him with the alleged rapist of young girls and women, Dušan Smodej from the Smodej Affair. He wrote as follows:

“They do not need evidence for their accusations. Today, for example, they published two videos of my visit to the public opening of the exhibition in Fotopub over a year ago. In the first video, I go up the stairs to the showroom, and in the second, I chat with guests in front of the building. (…) But talk of the devil, that is enough for them to conclude the following: ‘he visited the exhibition in the Fotopub, so he definitely also visited the basement, ergo: this man drugs and rapes!’.”

Tomaž Štih (known as a Libertarian) wrote on the social network Facebook: “Everyone is innocent until proven guilty.” And your guilt must be proven in the competent places – the courts. We probably could not agree more with Štih in a country governed by the rule of law. The problem arises when reasoning without evidence and based on indications is more often than not characteristic of the left (also the Levica party). You know (to paraphrase Friedrich Hayek), if leftists did not have double standards, they would not have standards at all.

Below are some examples.

Luka Mesec called the president of the Homeland League, Bernard Brščič, a fascist without evidence, defending himself that this was a “political assessment”. Ironically, the programme of the Levica party is almost identical to the fascist programme.

Luka Mesec (STA)

Luka Mesec voted to revoke the mandate of Janez Janša, who was convicted of having received a promise of a reward at an unknown time, in an unknown place and in an unknown communication method (the Patria affair). This is obviously really strong evidence. Well, when Janša was acquitted, he did not apologise to him (in fact, no one from the left did). Moreover, he disputed the decision of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia.

For Luka Mesec, the evidence that Janez Janša was involved in the outflow of money from healthcare was because he was once on a yacht with lobbyist Božo Dimnik. How has Mesec already written? I visit a party in the Fotopub once, and I am already a rapist.

Without evidence, Luka Mesec accused Janez Janša that SDS receives money from Hungary.

Since the members of B & H attended some events of the SDS party, on the left, Janez Janša and Branko Grims were labelled to be at the least supporters of neo-Nazis (progressives claim that there are Nazis in B & H).

Because Nova obzorja Publishing House published the book Manifesto for Homeland (patriotic group Generation of Identity), the magazine Demokracija was labelled as a supporter of fascism and Nazism.

In the case of Vizjak, they claimed that even the suspicion of allegedly questionable behaviour is enough for not only the minister to resign, but the entire government. At the time, Mesec said that the evidence was unequivocal, as Vizjak was filmed with Petan. Well, Mesec was also filmed in Fotopub.

There are more examples, it is obvious that karma met Luka Mesec: the media, which he accuses of incitement and defamation, use exactly the same logic of reasoning that he himself used in many cases. How did he defend himself? Aha, that it is a “political assessment”. Well, Comrade Luka Mesec, the fact that the media write about you in connection with Dušan Smodej is only a “political assessment”, because you are always described as a politician or a minister, right?
