Minister of Digital Transformation Mark Boris Andrijanič on a working visit to Finland

Minister of Digital Transformation Mark Boris Andrijanič paid a working visit to Finland on 4 and 5 May 2022. The main purpose of the visit was to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Digital Transformation Cooperation between Slovenia and Finland.

On this occasion, Minister Andrijanič met with the host and co-signatory of the Memorandum, Minister of Local Government Sirpa Paatero, and her expert team, who presented the Finnish organization and coordination in the field of digital transformation and their focused efforts over the past three decades, which puts Finland on the top of the DESI index. Minister Paatero is responsible for the digitalisation of Finnish public administration and the coordination of policies in this area.

Minister Andrijanič also met with Minister of Transport and Communications Timo Harakko, who is responsible for telecommunications infrastructure in Finland, including 5G, cooperation between the public and private sectors and cyber security aspects of digital literacy. As examples of good practices in the digitization of Finnish public administration, Minister Andrijanič visited the Finnish Tax Administration, which enjoys great approval and trust from the Finnish public, and the Finnish Digital Agency. Both at the Finnish Tax Administration and at all other Finnish institutions, the minister’s interlocutors pointed out that their digital services strive to be as easy to use as possible by the end user.

Minister Andrijanič visited the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats, where he was acquainted with the central activities of the Centre and cooperation with Slovenian institutions. Slovenia is one of the 21 members of the Centre, which also offers training for civil servants for the member states of the Centre.

Minister Andrijanič ended his working visit to Finland with a visit and talks at the fastest growing Finnish company Wolt, where he learned about Wolt’s endeavors for the Slovenian market and efforts for achieving a European Model of Responsible Platform Work. At Nokia’s headquarters, was Minister Andrijanič acquainted with the latest technological solutions in the field of telecommunications, such as local wireless networks or telemedicine, and met with Mobile Network President Tommy Uitto.
