“Interestingly, Gen-I, which is still controlled by the president of the Gibanje Svoboda party, Robert Golob through his own people, announced the price increase only now, in the post-election period,” they said on the portal Moje Posavje about the announced increase in natural gas prices in Gen-I. According to the new regular price list, the price of natural gas per kWh without VAT will be 0.04990 euros, and with 22% VAT 0.06088 euros per kWh. The cheapest provider now remains Petrol, which has set the regular price at 0.051179 euros per kWh.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced an embargo on Russian oil imports, while fuel prices are skyrocketing. Elections are over, and natural gas prices are also rising in Gen-I. “It is interesting that Gen-I, which is still supposed to be controlled by the president of the Gibanje Svoboda party Robert Golob through his people, announced the price increase only now, in the time after the elections,” said the portal Moje Posavje.
Gen-I announced on its website on Friday that the new regular price lists for the supply of natural gas to household and small business customers will come into force on July 1st, 24ur reports. According to the new regular price list, the price for the supply of natural gas will amount to 0.04990 euros per kWh excluding value added tax (VAT) or 0.06088 euros per kWh with 22% VAT. This price has been valid for new users since February 25th, while the company has provided unchanged prices to existing ones, as already mentioned, until the summer of 2022.
Gen-I says they regularly study the situation in Europe and the world, which affects the prices of energy they buy for consumers. Prices are expected to reach their highest, even historical, values in the second half of 2022. Obviously, the war in Ukraine will cost Europe dearly, as energy prices are not calming down. “It was predicted that the situation would calm down after the winter months, but the unforeseen war in Ukraine has aggravated the situation again. That is why we also have to adapt to changes in the buying markets and harmonise our prices with them,” they explained.
Almost 100% increase in the price of natural gas
Gas will be about 85 percent more expensive, and this fee, as the Finance newspaper wrote in early March, represents about 40 percent of the final price. This will increase it by about a third. Other Slovenian suppliers of natural gas to households and small business customers have already raised prices. Istrabenz Plini and Plinarna Maribor, owned by it, have increased prices for existing customers from 0.07564 to 0.09498 euros per kWh per hour including VAT, while prices for new customers who concluded contracts after December 17th last year will exceed 0.12 euros, including tax. Energetika Ljubljana has announced an additional price increase for May 15th, namely the price will increase from 0.04850 to 0.07275 euros per kWh with VAT.
Petrol, which initially announced a new price increase for April 1st, but then postponed the price change to the beginning of May, set the new regular price at 0.051179 euros, while previously it was 0.03752 euros per kWh including VAT. However, some have obviously decided not to sell at such high prices, such as E.ON Ljubljana, which has about 28,000 electricity customers and 1,000 natural gas customers. The latter have already informed their customers that they will gradually stop supplying electricity and natural gas in the coming months, as the price has risen from 0.073139 to 0.182939 euros per kWh including VAT. Natural gas users are not promised anything good in the next heating season, and the residents of the blocks that depend on central heating will suffer the most.
