Branko Grims: Just like Krampuses they are speaking with bloody red tongue, so did leftists speak at a meeting of the Education Committee when they attacked the chairwoman of the committee

“With the same language as the Krampuses that accompany St. Nicholas and speak with bloody red tongue, the leftists spoke at the meeting of the Education Committee when they attacked the chairwoman of the committee and tried to prevent them from adopting changes to the school legislation. They failed, but the leadership of the National Assembly evaded and did not put the item on the agenda, which in my opinion is contrary to the rules of procedure and is not a good way forward. The National Assembly must be a neutral institution, within which every view gets its place, where the majority decides in favour of Slovenia. Above all, this is a space within which Slovene tradition and Slovene culture must be respected, based on Christianity and Christian roots, as is the case for the whole of Europe,” said MP Branko Grims in the show Komentar.

This makes it all the more unfortunate that the European Commission’s draft proposal came out in these Advent days, according to which we should no longer use the word Christmas at all, but we should talk about “holidays”, Grims said. “We would also ban the words mother, father, man, woman and introduce neutral terms. Those who have prepared this should resign immediately, as they have shown that they are not aware of their role, they are not aware of what the mission of those who are leading Europe these days is. They have a duty to preserve tradition.”

History teaches us that we must defend Europe, Grims is convinced. “Why is Europe Europe at all? Because we resisted radical Islam with weapons, because we Slovenes defeated the Turks or radical Islam in the battle of Sisak, and because King Jan III Sobieski of Poland in 1683 defeated the Ottoman army near Vienna, but their empire never recovered”. If Vienna had fallen then, Rome would have fallen, and Europe would not be Europe today. It is also a misconception of those who decide in the EU institutions as well as in the parliaments of individual countries that all civilisations are the same. Not true, says Grims. “Only Christianity, which gives fundamental values to European civilisation, is what recognises to every human being its uniqueness, its special significance and considers life as sacred. This is the importance of European civilisation and must therefore be defended.”

When Europe will no longer be Europe

In these Advent days, when it comes to respecting all these values, we need to look in which direction Europe will go. And today the countries of Visegrad are best defending Europe, Slovenia is also defending it, now led by Poland. Namely, trumpets of illegal migrants are appearing at the Polish border in an organised manner, trying to invade the Polish border by force, and today there are Polish army, police, volunteers, and armies of other countries that rushed to help. The Slovenian government has also offered assistance to Poland if necessary. And this is how Europe, and its fundamental roots are defended. “Because if you remove the Christian roots in society, Europe is no longer Europe.”

It is the same in Slovenia. “We are bound by tradition, Christian roots, the tradition of everything that has shaped us for centuries. And not only that: the fact that, as a Slovene nation, we are inextricably linked and connected with the Slovene state is also enshrined in the Slovene Constitution. Namely, the Constitution states that Slovenia, as a democratic republic, as an independent state, is inextricably linked to the inalienable right of the Slovenian nation to self-determination. Now, we are living well in Slovenia, safely and according to the publicly announced scale, Slovenia is the safest country in the world.”

Slovenia is the safest country in the world, and we must defend it

Many times, when we talk to the citizens of Slovenia, people are not aware of how different the world is outside, says Grims. “In Slovenia, you can go anywhere at night, you can walk peacefully, you can be carefree. In many villages they even leave the front door unlocked. This reflects Christian roots, the honesty of the Slovenian nation, which, however, we must be aware of, is not the same as elsewhere in the world, where life is a battle for survival. The environment is much more dangerous even in the most developed countries. And this quality of security needs to be protected in Slovenia.” Security is like democracy, for which Dr Pučnik said: democracy is the path we are treading, and which is worth defending and maintaining repeatedly. It has many detours, but it is a path, not a goal, and that is why this path is so important. “This is a message we all receive these days. When you set up a Christmas tree, you preserve not only the religion, but also the Slovene tradition, if you take away this Slovene tradition, this essence of Slovene culture in addition to the language itself, it is no longer Slovene. The same is true for the whole of Europe.” In the end, Grims wished everyone a peaceful and happy Christmas.
