The director of the Communication Office, Uroš Urbanija, wrote on Twitter at the Supreme Court’s decision to annul the temporary suspension of the government’s decree on the provision of the STA public service that the court had apparently accepted Ukom’s arguments. Namely, false news is spreading in the media and social networks of politicians from the left that the government must enable the financing of the STA by a decision of the Supreme Court, which is not true.
The Slovenian Press Agency managed to keep the government decree on financing STA and thus made it impossible to finance itself. Now the Supreme Court has annulled this and the STA has declared it a great victory, saying that the court has now demanded funding of the STA. This is what Siol editor Peter Jančič commented on the media manipulations around the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the STA.
“The Slovenian Press Agency has requested the temporary suspension of the decree on the financing of the STA public service. Ukom appealed against the decree. Today, the Supreme Court apparently accepted Ukom’s arguments and annulled the temporary suspension of the decree on the financing of STA,” Uroš Urbanija stated on Twitter. He also responded to the tweet of SD president Tanja Fajon, who, according to the decision of the Supreme Court published today, attributed responsibility for the embarrassment and called on him to resign. According to Urbanija, it is difficult to understand that Fajon is demanding his resignation “given the fact that Ukom once again proved in court legally untenable arguments for withholding the decree requested by the STA director. Ukom has so far won all the court proceedings, so the summons probably applies to Veselinovič,” he replied.
Not even the President of the National Assembly understands the decisions
Prime Minister Janez Janša also responded to a tweet from the President of the National Assembly Igor Zorčič, who wrote that he hopes that today’s decision by the Supreme Court will help the government stop the shameful financial exhaustion of the STA and ignoring the decisions made in the National Assembly. Janša replied that it was “a shame when the President of the National Assembly does not know what he is saying and calls for illegal conduct”.
The General Secretariat of the Government announced today that Acting Secretary General of the Government Janja Garvas Hočevar has adopted a decision to appoint BDO Revizija, an auditing company from Ljubljana, as a special auditor to verify the implementation of STA’s legal and other prescribed obligations.
The government adopted a decision on June 30th, and Janja Garvas Hočevar selected BDO Revizija on the basis of a public procurement, which was divided into two parts. The auditor selected for part 1 will verify the implementation of STA’s legal and other prescribed obligations for the period from January 1st, 2019 to June 30th, 2021 during the special audit, the resolution reads. The auditor will be required to prepare a special report on the audit findings.
