Political correctness knows no boundaries: Mathematics is considered racist!

By A.S.

In the past few years, we witnessed the surge of enforced political correctness within educational institutions. Because of that, the classic approach towards studying mathematics has been labeled as “white supremacist” in some parts of the USA.  The decent behavior in the classroom, such as raising your hand before speaking, is likewise considered as too “paternalistic”.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, through which the billionaire couple is financially supporting various liberal leftist causes, has donated 140 million USD to the organization “A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction”, consisting of 25 educational institutions, which claim that math is synonymous with “white supremacy”, and that it reflects “racism”.  The organization organizes video conferences and courses for teachers, through which they supposedly become aware of their “biases”. The courses show the educators how to be more “unbiased” and understanding to the fact that “students of color use math differently than do white students«.

In the federal state of Oregon, the department of education is pushing the course of the above-mentioned organization on teachers. But, instead of focusing on how to learn math, these courses deal mostly with minorities and »identity politics«. Mathematics is not supposed to be objective anymore, and the teachers are encouraged to abandon the principle of the right and wrong answers. Such a principle is supposedly harmful and “authoritarian”. According to the courses, students should give at least two different answers, regardless of their accuracy. And this is all put in motion to “deconstruct white supremacy”.
