Letter from the SD members: did the coup plotters Levanič, Prešiček, Jauševec, Frangež, Žibert, Štromajer, and Škoberne undermine the rule of Dejan Židan?

We are revealing an anonymous letter, written by the members of the Social Democrats party (Socialni demokrati – SD) about the behind-the-scenes games of the party leadership and the fall of the party’s longtime president, Dejan Židan. According to the anonymous authors of the letter, prominent members of the SD – Dejan Levanič, Dejan Prešiček, Jan Škoberne, Uroš Jauševec, Jernej Štromajer, Matevž Frangež, and Klemen Žibert supposedly took part in the putsch. Among other things, the authors stated that the temporary leader of the Social Democrats party, Tanja Fajon, also took part in the overthrow of both Židan and the previous party president, Igor Lukšič. We sent a number of questions regarding the allegations from the anonymous letter to the leadership of the Social Democrats party.

The authors of the anonymous letter, signed as the members of the SD party, revealed that there was an uprising and a coup in the party. The creators of Dejan Židan’s departure from his leading position are the same individuals who kidnapped the party. The authors also claim that Židan was forced to resign from the position of SD party president. “He was basically pushed into it. Otherwise, he would have been discredited,” the anonymous authors wrote. The authors do not think highly of Tanja Fajon, as “she was always at the very top in her role of SD vice president, she brought down both presidents of the party, first, Igor Lukšič, and then Dejan Židan.”

According to the letter of the disappointed anonymous members of the party, the whole plan to remove Židan was designed during the latest Walk along the Wire (Pohod ob žici) in Ljubljana. According to a photo, the members who took part in the walk are Tanja Fajon, Jernej Štromajer, Dejan Prešiček, Martina Vuk, Anja Kopač, Marko Koprivc and Klemen Žibert. In addition to Štromajer, Prešiček and Žibert, the anonymous authors of the letter also mention Dejan Levanič, Jan Škoberne, Uroš Jauševec and Matevž Frangež.

Fajon is part of the problem, the shocked members of the party found out about the change on the party’s Twitter profile
The authors of the anonymous letter are not putting any faith in the new temporary leader. They accused her of being part of the problem and not the solution, as she was the vice-president of the party in both Židan’s, as well as Lukšič’s term. Her success in the European Elections did not help the party whatsoever, neither in the parliamentary elections nor in the local elections. As a representative of the two previous leaderships, she should resign, the disappointed anonymous members of the party wrote.

Shocked members of the party pointed out that they found out about the change of the party president on the party’s Twitter profile. The letter also reveals that for Židan’s resignation, orders were issued on how it should be presented in the media. No one within the party dared to resist, as sanctions would follow. “Members are being manipulated, intimidated, some are playing the game of many faces in order to survive politically, and they had no other choice but to like the Facebook post about the upcoming changes, as everything is being closely monitored,” the anonymous letter from angry Social Democrats members reveals. And the prominent members who planned for Fajon to become party president cycled with her at Friday’s protests and also spent time sailing with her, SD insiders also wrote.

Fajon responded to the claims on Twitter, writing: “These days, I have been receiving a lot of congratulations, but unfortunately, there have also been some attacks and incitements. That is not my way of working. Hence, a short explanation. At the meeting of the party’s presidency, I was unanimously appointed acting president until the congress. My suggestion to the members will be to hold the congress in the autumn.”

Communist staffing, losing their base voters, all of this is the truth about the Social Democrats
The post from SD’s social media also states that Židan supposedly asked Fajon to take his place, at least until the upcoming congress. However, the dissatisfied members are critical of the current SD leadership, which only comes to visit the field committees right before the elections. There has been a lot of criticism in the Slovenian public about the staffing of the Social Democrats in the past. Among other things, they wrote in the letter that the leadership of the party check the loyalty of their sheep.

The Social Democrats have shown their talent for massive recruitment in all state-owned institutions, institutes and companies over the last decade. In our media outlet, we have already revealed the system of employment of SD members in the state-owned company Petrol, in the homes for the elderly and centres for social work. These are just a few of the state institutions that have been taken over by the successors of the Communist Party. “You are continuing with the communist staffing policy. And the citizens all over Slovenia are right to criticize such actions,” the members of the party are critical.

Will she really dazzle the opposition leaders with her charm?
The authors of the letter do not believe that Fajon could be a “long-term solution.” They see her more as a person who will, as a former journalist, try to promote herself with the help of her former journalistic colleagues, who would present her to the Slovenian public with beautiful, carefully selected words. Regarding the opposition partners, the dissatisfied members of the SD also claim that Fajon will try to subjugate them with her charm, step by step, therefore becoming the leading candidate for the position of the Prime Minister among the opposition leaders. “She will resign when she secures a comfortable enough position that will last her until her retirement. But for now, she still has too little – or too much, and is now financially paying back for all the favours,” the anonymous letter also states.

We are publishing the original letter from the anonymous members of the Social Democrats in its entirety below:

The masks have fallen:
The creators of the story of the departure of Dejan Židan, MSc, from the position of the president of the SD party, are the same people who have kidnapped the SD party. As is now evident, this was supposed to be an uprising, a coup. Tanja Fajon is now positioned as the interim president within the SD party, supposedly until the congress, bypassing all democratic procedures of the SD’s internal organization. If necessary, they will also adjust the rules of the game and the delegates before the next congress. No one believes that Dejan Židan was in such a hurry to hand over his position that it was necessary to resign immediately, as he remains active in politics and has recently been relieved of the position of Speaker of the National Assembly. He would have had enough time to consolidate the party. Certainly, more time than Tanja Fajon, sitting in Brussels. He was basically pushed into it. Otherwise, he would have been discredited. And the procedures for this are well-known.

The final plan for the removal of SD president Dejan Židan from his position was supposedly completed on Victory Day by the SD members who took part in the Walk along the Wire in May 2020. At the walk, certain members took a photo with the member of the party Tanja Fajon and posted it on their Facebook profiles, despite the situation with COVID-19 and all other epidemiological measures. SD members were not informed of the events beforehand. The media statements about internal unity within the party are not true. Orders were issued on how the matter should be presented in the media. No one within the party dared to resist, as sanctions would follow. Members are being manipulated, intimidated, some are playing the game of many faces in order to survive politically, and they had no other choice but to like the Facebook post about the upcoming changes, as everything is being closely monitored. Those same people cycled with MEP Tanja Fajon, as a team, during Friday’s protests, and even spent time sailing with her. One such person to point out is Dejan Prešiček.

The well-known names of the comrades, circulating within the SD, who are responsible for the resignation of former party president Dejan Židan and appointment of Tanja Fajon, are: Dejan Levanič, Dejan Prešiček, Jan Škoberne, Jernej Štromajer, Uroš Jauševec, Matevž Frangež and Klemen Žibert.

The SD party, which has put on a social-democratic disguise, could not be more fake than it already is. SD members and other people are being tricked. Disappointing with conspiring and one-mindedness continues. Dejan Židan allegedly called Tanja Fajon and asked her if she would be willing to take his place until the upcoming congress. But where is the base, where, in all of this, is the membership of the SD party? We have told you many times even wrote about how you only know how to get to the countryside or visit the basic cells of the SD membership a month before the elections, making sure they are still convinced, making sure the sheep remain loyal to you, and after that, nothing.

By doing so, you will slowly lose your base voters. This does not seem to be a problem for you because your attitude is wrong. You will just switch to a different party when it all goes to hell. You are continuing with the communist staffing policy. And the citizens all over Slovenia are right to criticize such actions. The members of the SD found out via SD’s Twitter that we now have a temporary old/new leadership. Tanja Fajon is not liked by the Slovenians because of certain actions from the past, and it is not to be expected that she will bring a breath of fresh air to the SD party. In the case of the former SD presidents Igor Lukšič, as well as Dejan Židan, hers was the role of the vice president of the SD party, and where is that breath of fresh air we spoke of? Her success in the European Elections did not help the party whatsoever, neither in the parliamentary elections nor in the local elections. She was always at the very top in the role of SD vice president, and she brought down both presidents of the party, first, Igor Lukšič, and then Dejan Židan. Where is the freshness, a breath of fresh air and her added value, with which she promotes and presents herself? Dejan Židan and Igor Lukšič were not the only ones responsible for the result of the SD party, for the fact that it did not advance, but instead, stayed in place. In both of these cases, Tanja Fajon, as the vice-president of the SD party, should have moved aside, as she has stagnated as the management support of the two previous party presidents of SD. She will resign when she secures a comfortable enough position that will last her until her retirement. But for now, she still has too little – or too much and is now financially paying back for all the favours.  As a former journalist, she will now try to promote herself with the help of her former journalistic colleagues, who will present her to the Slovenian public with beautiful, carefully selected words, and will try to subjugate Luka Mesec, Marjan Šarec, Alenka Bratušek, Zmago Jelinčič, and others.
