According to authorities Northern Greece has seen a sharp increase in migrants crossing the land border with Turkey.
The number registered in October was 3,543, an 82% increase from October 2017.
The surge has complicated an ongoing government effort to reduce overcrowding at migrant camps
on Lesbos and other Greek islands and more are being moved to the mainland.
