Brussels appears unwilling to condemn racist and anti-Semitic left-wing politicians. The vice chief of the letfist political spectrum admitted that they used racism in the hope of making political gains. V4NA has asked leaders in Brussels about the case, but they remain silent.

Politicians who frequently express concerns over the rule of law now appear eerily silent. V4NA wanted to know what they think about politicians within Brussels' party groups trying to exonerate Jobbik, a racist, anti-Semitic political force in Hungary.

In fact, these politicians do more than simply try and exonerate Hungary's far-right party as they have admitted that - instead of fighting anti-Roma racism (that Jobbik is known for) - they used racism for political gains. The vice president of the Hungarian Socialist Party admitted in a live television programme that they deliberately chose a politician known for his extremist views to run in last Sunday's interim parliamentary elections (in the northeastern county of Borsod).

We asked European Commission (EC) Vice Presidents Vera Jourova and Frans Timmermans, as well as Dacian Ciolos and Iratxe Garcia Perez - the leaders of Renew Europe and the S&D party groups - about the scandal.

However, Brussels remains complicitly silent on the matter which also affects their allies.

While several politicians did not respond, the EC's press office replied that they would not reply, saying that the Commission does not comment on national matters. V4NA, however, asked questions about the rule of law and equality.
