“Allahu akbar” – Anyone who refuses to heed the call of the muezzin is considered an inciter in Germany!

By Michael van Laack

Some towns and municipalities allow mosques to call on the muezzin again and again – not only during the Corona. Unlike church bells, which really only want to “call” for worship or invite to the “Hail Mary” prayer, the muezzin’s call of “Allahu akhbar” has a politico-religious dimension. “Allah is the greatest” “There is no god but Allah” – Wherever his call is heard, the teachings of his Prophet prevail.

Since most German politicians are  Christians only by baptism – if at all – and do not take their faith seriously, they often cannot imagine that the muezzin’s call has any meaning other than a call to prayer. They do not ‘fight’ for Christianity to remain firmly rooted in the consciousness of the citizens of our country, so they do not imagine that people of other faiths might have different expectations on their faith.

Muezzin’s call disturber faces up to five years in prison

In Herford, North Rhine-Westphalia, 39-year-old Marcel Bauersfeld – “armed with a cap, a wooden spoon and a cowbell” – protested for a long time in the summer of 2020 in front of a mosque in Herford against allowing the muezzin’s call, in an attempt to override the muezzin’s call. As a result, he was arrested by the police on several occasions. The authorities were particularly alarmed by the fact that many of the spectators were of his opinion and that this led to more “copycat crimes”.

Now the public prosecutor has filed charges against Bauersfeld. He is charged with inciting the people, disrupting a religious ceremony and resisting state authority. While many state officials enthusiastically applaud the women of Mary 2.0 calling for a church strike, preventing worshippers from entering the church and loudly protesting outside during the liturgy, the judiciary shows no mercy when it comes to Islam.

Using bells for a “hostile act”

The public prosecutor’s office in Bielefeld is appalled beyond belief by the “Islamophobic gesture”: “The prosecution claims that he deliberately wanted to disrupt a religious ceremony with his behaviour. In doing so, he wanted to incite other citizens who shared his views to commit similar hateful acts against the Muslims gathered there.”

In addition, the actions violated the Anti-Corruption Ordinance. This, of course, does not constitute an offence or even a criminal offence in Germany when it comes to funerals of members of criminal clans, anti-Israel demonstrations and kneeling actions by the BLM movement. Bauersfeld and his co-accused now face up to five years in prison. This time, judges are still likely to grant mercy and impose a suspended sentence. After all, Islam is mercifull. Of course, the German judiciary will also want to set a suitably lenient example.
