Serbian president receives Chinese jab

By: V4 Agency

On Tuesday President Aleksander Vucic was inoculated with the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine in the Serbian village of Rudna Glavain, in the eastern municipality of Majdanpek.

Aleksandar Vucic announced on multiple occasions that he would be vaccinated soon, but he has always postponed his jab. On Tuesday he said he would be inoculated with the second dose of the Chinese vaccine in a small town in southern Serbia.

The vaccination of Aleksandar Vucic can be followed live on social media, offering the president a chance to promote the jab in the country of seven million, where more than 2.5 million have received the first dose, and over one million people have already been administered the second shot.

Members of the government have made no secret about which jab they received. PM Ana Brnabic was the first in the country to receive the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine last December, while House Speaker Ivica Dacic and Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin took the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. Minister for Human and Minority Rights Gordana Comic was vaccinated with AstraZeneca’s jab.
