Facebook and Twitter to comment on censorship only after elections

Social media sites have been accused of political bias, as they have managed to almost exclusively censor right-wing content in the heat of the US presidential campaign. The CEOs of the social media giants have been subpoenaed by the Senate Judiciary Comittee, but they will give their testimonies only after the election.

The CEOs of Facebook and Twitter are facing scrutiny, but only after the US presidential election.

Supression of right-leaning content on major social media sites has recently become a well-known phenomenon. The New York Post and the Remix News portals and even the Hungarian Government’s official Twitter account have fallen victim to this trend. The tendency has become increasingly noticeable as the date of the US presidential election is approaching. One can only guess what effect it will have on the outcome. It is a breaktrough in the case, however, that the US Senate’s Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to testify in the case. The only problem is that the trial will not happen until after the elections.

One of the clearest indications of censorship was the incident when, after, Joe Biden’s Ukranian scandal, Twitter first banned New York Post articles on the topic, and then suspended the newspaper’s Twitter account, which the social media site has not restored to this day. The press release said that the charge against the tech giant CEOs was “the suppression and/or censorship of news articles concerning the 2020 presidential election.” The hearing in the matter will be held on 17 November, 14 days after the elections.
